Kate Maxwell obtained her PhD from departments of French and Music at the University of Glasgow in 2009. She then worked as a Teaching Fellow there in 2009-10. During her PhD she worked as a teaching assistant in Glasgow and as an assistante de langue at the ENS Cachan, Paris. She has been living with her family in Jönköping, Sweden, since 2008.

Having decided to work in Jönköping in order to spend more time with her family, Kate now runs a business offering language and editing services to the academic and professional markets, which makes the most of her research, teaching and editing experience. She is continuing her research and compositional activities as an independent scholar.
